Sleeping Beauty

Maddie was very fussy and tired today. She did stay up a lot in the early morning because of an upset tummy. She slept almost the entire day even through musical and physical therapies and a trip this morning to one of our neighborhood's park. Elyssa and her friend R got to play on the baby playground and both Holly and I had fun watching and keeping the little ones out of trouble. Holly is a friend of mine that helps me care for Maddie a few times a week. She is the one who also graciously and loving took on the task of helping with Marissa and Elyssa (which is a challenge to anyone) during Maddie's first part of her hospital stay. She has 3 children of her own including a 17 month old to take care of too. We are so blessed to have her friendship and her help. Elyssa still managed to eat sand and spitting it out all while Maddie slept under the shade. Later on today, her PT showed Holly and I how to do range of motions on her while she was sleeping. Her musical therapist tried to wake her up with music but Maddie fussed and ignored most of the activities. We are so blessed too by all of our therapist whom are awesome at what they do but most important they are so compassionate, caring and love Maddie and our family. She ended up with 2 seizures when she tried to wake up earlier this evening and now she is back asleep. I had several phone calls, texts, and emails that were all so loving and encouraging. We are so thankful that Maddie is sleeping peacefully and does not appear in pain right now. I am beginning to term her, Sleeping Beauty. Sleeping Beauty is my favorite Disney Princess. It's kinda strange but I had read Sleeping Beauty to her at the hospital and she ended up waking up from her coma. Maybe, I'll have to try again. Maddie will be having another EEG study of her brain activity during the end of November. The neurologist is wanting to get a baseline of her brain activities to see if there is any potential surgery or options that may help her. She and either Chris or I will be staying at the hospital for 3 to 5 days after Thanksgiving. One of my very loving and beautiful sister, Sandy will be coming to help us out during that time. She has offered to help so many times and we are finally taking her up on her kindness and support. We enjoyed a lovely visit from friends of ours, whom are snowbirds  last night. They brought great conversations, much love and a very delicious strawberry frozen desert. God continues to bless us in so many ways. We are so thankful for all of our loving friends and family. On a sad note we were very sadden to hear of the loss of a wonderful Christian friend of ours due to cancer yesterday. And 2 other friends that are battling cancer. All of these wonderful people and their families are in our thoughts and prayers.
